To set up Netscape 4.0 just follow the steps laid out below.

Start Netscape 4.0

At the top of the screen is a pull down menu.  Go to Edit and then down to Preferences.

The Preference screen will appear. Drag your mouse down to Mail and Groups and click on 
the link. 

Four more links will appear. Drag the mouse down and click on Identity. 

You will see a number of blanks that need information entered into them.  Fill them out
with the following information.

	You See				You type

	Your name:			Your real name

	Email address:			yourloginname@bluemoon.net

	Reply-to address		Leave this blank

	Organization			Leave this blank OR type in any organization you wish to 
					be identified with.
	
Signature File			For now leave this blank.  This option allows you to put an
				automatic tagline on your email.  This is an option you can 
				play with later.

Dont' check "Always attach Address Book Card to Messages.  This is another option you can 
experiment with later.

Under the Identity option you clicked on is an option called Messages.  
Click on the Messages option.  This page makes sure you DON'T send HTML mail. This is 
important because not all people can read HTML mail. 
Under Messages properties.

DON'T check "By default, send HTML messages

You have to decide if you wish to quote the original message or not. Be sure to click on 
more options and fill out that page too. Here are our suggested choices.

Check the following:

	When addressing messages

		Expand addresses against names and nicknames

	Send messages that use 8-bit characters
	
		As is (does not work well with some mail servers)

	When sending HTML messages to recipients who are not 
	listed as being able to receive HTML messages:
	
		Always convert the message into plain text (may lose some formatiting)

Click on ok to take you back to the main option page. 

Click on Mail Server.

You will see a number of blanks that need information entered into them.  Fill them out
with the following information.

	You See				You type

	Mail Server User Name		yourloginname

	Outgoing Mail (SMTP) server	net.bluemoon.net

	Incoming Mail server		net.bluemoon.net

Under Mail Server type click on

	POP3 (messages and folders are kept locally on the hard disk)

None of the other options should be checked.

Now click on More Options.

Make sure Remember my mail password is checked.  Then click OK.

Click on Groups Server.  This section will allow you to acess News Groups.

Leave all options to the default except:

	Discussion Groups {news server}: type news.bluemoon.net

Click Ok.    You are now all set up to send and receive mail.
