Bow: This refers to the front of the boat.  It does NOT refer to bending at the waste to greet
someone.  Of course, if you do insist on trying this in your kayak... see eskimo roll and pump
 
Cock Pit: The space where you sit (inside the boat).  Any other thing that comes to mind..is
just plain rude! 

Composite: A fiberglass boat.   

Deck: The top of the boat. 

Deck Straps: Ropes on the deck of the boat that hold your gear. 

Eskimo Roll: (Roll for short) The act of rolling a tipped boat back upright without getting

Hatch: The covered, watertight openings on the deck used to store your gear. 

Hull: The bottom of the boat. 

Paddle: The oar... or the action of making the boat move by paddling. 

Paddle Float: A floatation device that when put on the end of the padle, helps you get back
into your boat. 

PFD: Personal Flotation Device: Life Jacket 

Pump: The pump helps you get the water out of a tipped boat. 

Spray Skirt: A fabric piece that covers the cockpit to keep out splashes. 

Stern: The back of the boat. 

Track: To continue going in a straight line. 

Water-Line: The level to which the water rises outside the boat.
