**NOTES** Grandma didn't have an easy life. When I think of the type of person my father was it isn't hard to see where he picked up his characteristics. It tells you alot about a person when you see the high level of respect they receive from other members of the family. I have never seen another family where the children have shown more respect to a parent as I have with how my uncles and my aunt respected my Grandma Lewis. She was a deeply religious lady but she didn't push her faith on you. On my 11th birthday Grandma Lewis gave me a Bible with my name engraved on the front cover. She wrote me a note on the inside cover. I treasured that gift for three decades. Unfortunately, I left the Bible lay on a pew at Church one day while I walked to the basement for a few mintues and when I returned it was gone. I just told myself that someone needed it more than I did at the time. Grandma was all about family. We had the traditional Sunday gatherings of family every week at Grandma's house for years. They were fun. My Dad, my brother and I lived with Grandma for a period of time after our home burnt down when I was a young girl. Every time I see a bottle of Listerine I think of Grandma. *lol* She made my brother and I rinse our mouthes with it every night before bed. Surprisingly, I liked it! She had a wonderful smile and she loved her pets. She taught me how to make hotpads and tried to teach me how to knit. Being left handed though made it hard for me to learn from a right handed person. I have alot of good memories of Grandma Lewis. I was blessed to be born into her family.
